So you have to do a little research, and understand what you might need to replace or change about your current cable TV coax network. The amplified splitter also has a POE MoCA filter, which keeps my MoCA signals out of the neighborhood cable TV network :-). I replaced the amplified splitter at our old cable point-of-entry (POE) with the MoCA 2.0 compatible one, and suddenly everything started working. The other thing is that we have an amplified splitter here, and that also has to be MoCA 2.0 compatible. I had to replace a couple of my existing splitters with compliant ones to get MoCA to work properly here. First off, coax cable splitters need to be MoCA 2.0 compatible, which means that they have to go up to 1675MHz. Just turned on the adapters, watched the lights on the adapters indicate 'connected', and off it went. The eero just started using the MoCA connection as soon as I had it working, I didn't have to do anything. The MoCA provides a 'wired-equivalent' connection between the gateway eero and the two remote eeros. There's another MoCA adapter at each of our two main TV's using their cable TV coax ports, where there's also an eero node (not coincidentally :-) ). To illustrate, I have a MoCA adapter at my gateway eero that plugs into the switch there, and is connnected to the coax cable from a previous cable TV installation. MoCA is transparent to your router, it's only a layer 2 transport protocol, and you need an adapter at each endpoint (point of use). This will attenuate the MoCA signal at the cable modem.Okay, well, layer 2 devices like MoCA 2.0 adapters don't have IP addresses, unless they have something additional built in that needs an IP address.

If you find you are still having experience with your cable modem, it is also suggested to install a POE filter to the F connector of the modem. The POE filter should always be installed before the first split at the ground block for the best performance. This will keep your TV content secure, and keep other homes’ unwanted recorded content and videos out of your home.īelow is an image of how the MoCA and POE Filter should be setup in your home: The POE is a 1002 MHz low-pass filter which is installed at the subscriber drop, preventing interference between MoCA devices in homes connected to the same tap. MoCA POE (Point of Entry) filters are suggested utilizing a MoCA setup. Connect MoCA box #2 to your TV or device with an Ethernet cable.ħ. Connect one end of a coax cable to the back of MoCA box #2, and the other end to a coaxial outlet in the room.Ħ. In another room, place your MoCA box #2.ĥ. Connect the power adapter to MoCA box #1.Ĥ. Attach one end of a coax cable to MoCA box #1, and the other end to a coaxial outlet in the roomģ. Place MoCA box #1 in one room next to your router or modem and connect them via Ethernet.Ģ.

In the other room with your TV, plug in the second MoCA box and connect it to a coaxial outlet, then connect it to your TV via Ethernet.įor this setup, you will need two MoCA adapters plus power adapters, 2 coax cables, and 2 Ethernet cables:ġ.
